Has anyone found it helpful to have a good cry when you are feeling anxious? Like to release frustration, fears, etc. I've had a few very brief cries lately and feel a bit better after. I can tell I need to have a good cry but there is something holding me back.

As far as fears go...sometimes I ask myself what would happen if. Then what would happen if. Trying to rationalize my fears and how real they are. For example I have a co-worker I am afraid of. So I ask myself if he gets mad at me if I make a mistake what would happen. Well, he can't fire me since he is not my supervisor. I've come to the conclusion that he is unhappy in his job and maybe unhappy in his life. It's not about me and his world does not revolve around me. So after thinking about the situation this way I feel better.

Also sometimes obsessive thoughts makes things worse and that is another thing I'm working on.

I sure would appreciate any input. Thank you.

I always feel better after a good cry; which doesn't happen very often. It seems to be a release of pent-up emotions. I have to stay in the moment and not think---What if? When I start thinking what if, I can really work myself up into a panic mood which is bad for me. I am also working on these things. I believe I will always be a work in progress trying to learn how my brain functions. I wish you the best.

Hi there. TBH sometimes I feel that there's a lot of relief to be gained from having a ''good cry''. It lets out a lot of anxiety and pent up emotions. That's my take on it anyways. HUGS. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I cry daily pretty much. Sometimes several times a day. And yes, it does help one feel better to get it out. I "what if," too. It's one of my big problems and probably the main source of my anxieties. I worry about everything and blow everything up and make everything worse. Something I'm working on as well...

How often I cry depends on how I'm feeling overall. I find that I cry the most either when I'm extremely depressed or just can't hold it in anymore since things are too overwhelming. Regardless of why I started crying I mostly feel a sense of relief for the moment even if my initial feelings linger.

I think it is always healthy to let out emotions (crying, yelling, quiet sadness, etc.).

So yes - if you need to - do it. But I also understand how hard that can be. I hope you are able to let it out of you. Free yourself. Give it over to God.

Crying is very natural thing, an awesome gift. Do it but keep yourself in control. The "what if" is a horrible thing. I do it all the time. My therapist told me to take one day at a time and focus on the now. Easy for her to say. She also said to keep busy. Do something fun every so often and do yoga. Yoga is awesome! I just started last week. Its like Im stretching all the stress out of me. It is also teaching me to breath. We will see how well it works in a few weeks when work starts back up.

There is medication out there for it too. Some you take all the time and some you take at the moment.

Im hard wired for stress. I come from a long line of "what if".
