So, this afternoon after lunch, I decided to take a new bus to a place I am not familiar with just to see where this one therapist's office is at. -I don't know if she would be my new therapist yet but in case she might be. I read that she helps with career/vocational. I haven't come to the point of contacting the state on switching therapists.- Well, I was going to take another new bus to get me there but I ended up staying on the bus I started at.
All these million thoughts popped into my head. What if I get lost? I don't own a cell phone (I can't afford one). I didn't have money to call for a ride so I wouldn't get a hold of anyone. I would be stranded out in a place I don't know well, and something bad could happen to me. Or, what if I miss my bus route home? I chose to not get off, although, I began to panic and was also trying not to breakdown. Eventually, I did get back to the bus station but I missed my route. I panicked again. I went to where my mom goes to work occasionally to find it closed an hour ago (my mom told me to go there if whenever I miss the bus), then walked to the station to see if there were anybody I could try to ask to use their phone to call a ride home and there were nobody, and next I just waited at the station until my dad found me. I wished I had not gone on that bus in the first place. I should have studied more about that schedule and planned better before I even began to take a bus to an unfamiliar setting. I probably done a stupid thing.

That doesn't sound stupid to me. You got lost and stayed where you knew you can be found. That was smart even though it scared you.
I used to take the bus but it had a lot of busses that kept repeating the route. They had a 800 number that I could call for the schedule because if I missed one then a another would come a little later. Good luck and hopefully it works out better for you next time.

I do the same thing in various situations - have all sorts of scary thoughts pop into my head that cause me to panic. I seem to do it even worse now since our fire. I think I have ptsd, and my anxiety is often through the roof. I've found, though, that things always seem to work out in the end, as it did for you. I know, though, it's so hard not to panic during the midst of it. You were scared, and had a right to be. You were lost!! I would've been, too. Don't reprimand yourself over it. It wasn't stupid.

Not stupid. Was smart to feel out a new area. I know my buses are spaced 30minutes to one hour, depending on time of day.
Actually took a detour today, had that moment of crud, I'm disoriented. Then, bingo, different direction into familiar area. Now, from this, you know your safety protocol. Giving you comfort, next time. ![]() |
