I've been on all of them. I'm not sure any are weaker than others but Klonopin has a long half life and Xanax has a short one. I think Valium is in between. I was on benzos for 30 years but a nurse forced me off them and I have withdrawal syndrome (18 months going still). :-( I feel awful all the time and the anxiety is crippling. The deep breathing is hard because I have COPD. It's awful. They are wonderful drugs until someone decides to force you off them against your will.

And doctors are now hesitant to keep benzos on over a long period of time.

I'm on klonopin 1.5 mg twice a day and Ativan .5-1mg PRN. Not sure where Ativan falls, but it seems to calm me for a little while and then wear off. I haven't been prescribed the others.

I've been on all 3 and would put Xanax first.

I found temazepam to be the most sedating. Valium had no effect on me except when given by IV route. Xanax 1-3 mg is sedating enough to sleep but not as bad to immobilize me as the temazepam.

I've been on all three, I fink klonopin to be the strongest and most effective.
Thanks for this!
