I heard the other day on the news about Samhainophobia, the fear of Halloween. They were talking about how this time of year some people can have major panic attacks and fear of the scary things around us on Halloween, like horror movies, all the blood and gore, demons, etc. The news anchors were just laughing and saying, "Well, isn't that what Halloween is all about?" No, it's not. It should just be about silly costumes, not all the blood and zombies and devils. We didn't have such scary things when I was a kid. The media seems to definitely be promoting panic attacks with everyday news now. I can't even watch the news anymore, not just at Halloween time.

This year I have tied all my anxiety to Halloween and I'm convinced if I can live through tomorrow, everything will be alright. I've taken the day off work and I'm just going to watch comedies, cook some good food, clean the house... I hope I can make it, I'm seriously scared. I have felt for a while that something really bad will happen on Halloween. Yuck. I used to love Halloween.

I agree. I think people are playing up the "evil" aspects of Halloween too much now. I like to think of it as fun, not scary.

Halloween is a holiday not liked by some. Because it is spooky, and if you research it, I hear the roots of the holiday are not very pleasant by any means. On Halloween this year I went trick-or-treating downtown, but felt really, really depressed. It was weird. I usually feel really depressed, but I felt especially so on Halloween.
