Today in class my anxiety reached a new level. Whenever I am really anxious I feel ill, but have never actually thrown up before. However, today when I had to give a presentation in class, I threw up.

Hello Katelyn1019,
I am very sorry that your anxiety caused you to throw up in class. That's a very uncomfortable position to find yourself in. I have never thrown up in class from anxiety, but I have had panic attacks in class. I remember feeling really embarrassed and spent a lot of time worrying that my fellow class mates were going to tease me about it the next day. I learned that the best thing to do in this situation is to remind yourself that tomorrow is a new day and that anything can happen. I have to constantly remind myself to not worry about the "what if". Something might not happen, but if it does I will have an easier time dealing with it when the situation occurs then trying to fix/deal with it before it happens. I hope that you don't give yourself too hard of a time about throwing up in class. You're human.. everyone throws up. Good luck with class tomorrow! ![]()

Augh, god. I almost passed out in the middle of my presentation this year. I told my teacher (before class) that I struggle with anxiety and if I feel like my blood pressure is going to drop I need to sit down. That worked a bit better. I still worked hard to give my presentation in front of the class, but sitting down takes the edge off. Maybe give that a try?
...and as for the class, you are not there for them, so do your best to live past them regardless of what you fear they are thinking of you. Good luck. ![]()

Amphiptere gave you some good advice! Explain to the teacher about your struggle and see if he/she will allow you to sit down. I am the same as you when it comes to public presentations and I feel like I will not be able to breathe. Unfortunately the teachers won't let you do your presentation to them alone which would ease the problem a lot. Don't worry about the other kids tomorrow. It will be a new day and you throwing up will be old news.

You can blame it on feeling sick with something you ate, rather than anxiety. Like if someone asks you tomorrow, "Are you ok? Why did you throw up?" Say "I ate something that didn't agree with me and I was feeling sick before I gave the presentation." Next time you have to give a presentation, ask your professor to do it after class or just in front of him/her because you have anxiety.

I hate class presentations! I almost failed my Public speaking class in college because of it. I agree with the other posts, sitting down does help. Hope it gets better!
