Planes mess me up; I get headaches from the up/down motion of taking off and landing and throws off my circadian rhythm. And my anxiety goes through the roof while traveling long distance. But the worst part for me is when I land at an unfamiliar maze of an airport and have to navigate my way around this unfamiliar town to wherever I'm suppose to go. I begin to worry that I'll get raped, lost, stranded, any number of horrible things. It feels like a major asthma attack.

I know people who love to travel and see new places but I just can't relate. Is this a bona fide phobia or is this considered a trigger for panic attacks?

I think it's considered a big trigger for a lot of people, I have only flown once and it was by myself at the age of 12 from Virginia to Florida and back. I didn't have a lot of anxiety then but now as an adult I have major anxiety over it. I would probably get lost in an airport and miss my flight.

Yes me too! I flew when I was a kid but didn't remember much. As an adult, I seriously got lost and missed my flight once. I had to spend the night at the airport but did not do any sleeping at all. I would have slept if there was really a way to sleep with one eye open but oh well.
