Yesterday my pdoc concluded that I have OCD, even though I don't demonstrate the typical physical rituals. One of my problems is that I obsess heavily over something until the matter is resolved, and then it's like I need to find something else to obsess about.
Most recently it was about buying a car, but it can be about less important decisions like which cheap bike I should get to tow the kids around. It's like I'm not satisfied until I've exhausted every resource at my disposal. I can't sleep much when I'm obsessing over something, and I don't get anything hardly done at all while I'm at work. My pdoc prescribed albilify to help reduce anxiety and help with paranoia when I get in depressed moods. I probably have BPD as well. I snap off at little things sometimes, like tupperware falling out of the cupboard, and get violent over it. Anyway, is what I said on par with OCD?

Yes, could be OCD. There are people who only obsess, rather than do compulsive actions.

i havent been diagnosed with OCD, but everyone I tell my problems to says that it is possible that i have it. Personally for me, i have to check everything. i need constant reassurance for everything. but i do also worry about one thing after another. that is how i started to realize that i had an anxiety problem.
like it was said before.. it just happens differently to different people. i have two friends at school here with OCD and we'll sit and compare each other's problems. |

Thanks for the responses. Does anyone know if abilify helps for OCD?

i found this on emedicine........you could research more.
_____________________________________________________________________ Only antidepressants that potently inhibit presynaptic reuptake of serotonin appear to be effective in treating OCD. Clomipramine (Anafranil) is the only TCA with this quality. The SSRIs are also effective. SSRIs have the advantages of ease of dosing and low toxicity in overdose. Available SSRIs include fluoxetine (Prozac), fluvoxamine (Luvox), paroxetine (Paxil), citalopram (Celexa), escitalopram (Lexapro), and sertraline (Zoloft). |

Well, no matter what the p-doc thinks, I'm going off abilify immediately. I've never been so agitated, violent, homicidal, paranoid, and zombie-like from any other med in my life.
I can't even stay awake off 10 hours of sleep and 5-6 cups of coffee. It's rediculous.
