I have recently been worrying about getting dirty. This includes changing my clothes very often, having showers very often, looking up to the smallest details. For example, if my bathroom flip flops start to smell of "feet", I have to wash them and give them a very good clean, or if my jeans have even the smallest stain on them, I immediately have to put them in the washing machine... I also sweat a lot, which makes the matter even worse. It's like I am fearing that the bacteria and dirt on my body will slowly kill me if I don't give myself a proper clean everyday. Any idea how to get relaxed about this? Thank you and much appreciated.

The actions that you describe here don't sound problematic to me, but it sounds like you are having a lot of anxiety associated with dirt and staying clean and that maybe the subject's in your thoughts more than you'd like, so that part is a problem.
I've seen depressed people on these forums (including myself) talk about how we aren't vigilant enough about our personal cleanliness when we're feeling down, so it will be interesting to see how this conversation develops. Is your concern with cleanliness confined to your body and clothes or does it extend to your surroundings too? |

My concern affects only the things I have described. As for my surroundings, I never have been panicked about them, I just maintain them as clean as an average person would do.
