I have taken prozac for 9 days now and I wonder how long more would it take to work or see some small changes that could help my anxiety. Can anyone relate?

It can take several weeks to notice a big difference with anti-depressants, even up to 7 or 8 weeks.

I have taken it for 2 weeks exactly now, and I am not really sure what I am feeling. I still have my anxiety, but a different kind of anxiety now and I'm still depressed. Kind of got more depressed after the first few days. Obviously 2 weeks isn't enough to make a difference so I still have waiting time before it can actually help.... Were you insanely exhausted no matter how much sleep you got at first? I was and that effect JUST went away yesterday and I'm not as tired anymore. What time do you take yours if you don't mind me asking?

I have been sleeping more when i took it first and I have been taking it at night, a couple of hours before I go to sleep. I have heard that it takes 2 weeks to see some difference to work, but I don't know.

Usually when I've taken meds for anxiety there has been a small change after about 2 weeks but not that much noticable until around 6 weeks so you may very well not notice any effects at the moment but hang in there and holding thumbs you will begin to see results soon

Dear friend
as told above by the members it usually takes a few days to kick-in. you'll feel sleepy initially as the pill needs you to stop thinking so it can do its job. so don't struggle to keep awake. i slept for 18 hours a day for a week when i was first put on Paxil. when you visit your pdoc next time tell them everything so they can evaluate and may change the meds. ![]()

I went to the doctor today for my follow up for the prozac. The doctor decided to switch my meds to "Nardil". Of course I've never heard of this before so I had to come home and research it for about 3 hours. I'm freaking out now!!! I keep reading that it is an MAOI and MAOIs are a last resort. Wtf? Why would she prescribe me a last resort type of med when I had only tried the prozac. anyways. I keep reading good things about this except for weight gain. Which I am horrendously scared about. So now I went from scared to something as mild to prozac to scared that I might ruin my fortunate good looks with a medication!!! Lol. No but really, does anyone here have any thoughts on MAOIS or know of Nardil?
