Sometimes I get thinking about weird things in the past and my paranoia about the future makes me incredibly anxious.. tonight that's happening. I'm not sure how to control it, but God knows.. I try very hard. My mind pieces together things that drive me crazy and I just can't keep my mind from getting stuck on them. I really do try.

I'm not sure if it's because I forgot and took my Risperdal late or its something else, but it's like I have to constantly stay busy.. and even then, it usually doesn't work for long. I'm constantly lost in thought. I'm at my wits end, it might bother me for a few hours or a few days.. but right now I'm at my wits end, I wish I could control it because I'm mostly too scared to talk about it because it's crazy. I wish I had more distractions or stronger meds sometimes.. even thought the Risperdal seems pretty strong.

Hi MetsAreTheBest. Sorry you are struggling. I have a pill box with days of the week, one for morning and one for evening. If there is a missing of taking the pill, I am aware of it for sure. Talk to your prescribing doctor if you think your medication is not keeping you stable.

There are lifestyle changes you can suggest that might help them cope if they are willing to discipline themselves.

Diet can have an affect on how we feel. I have to watch what I eat because foods I eat can stabilize my moods or exaggerate them. A high protein low carb diet with snacks or meals every 3-4 hours will over time reduce my swings. I also avoid alcohol and recreational drugs because those can really increase depression.

Here is what I use when my head gets over crammed with thoughts. Breathe in a natural way. Silently count one on the inhale and 2 on the exhale. 3 on the inhale and 4 on the exhale. Continue up to 10 then go back to 1. This helps me focus on breathing rather than the wall of thoughts.

Other lifestyle changes that help me are doing yoga, exercises, mindfulness, calm music, and being active on Psych Central.

Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com

The good news, the positive I'm trying to take from what I've been going through.. is that when I'm better I'm going to have 7-9 good short story ideas to work with. Maybe writing will be therapeutic.
