Hi All,
I have been having a lot of anxiety attacks - sometimes I know what the trigger is. My question is this - I know the trigger, I take it away - but why does the anxiety last for several hours/feel unbearable? Any thoughts? Anyone have any knowledge of the hormonal activity involved? Thanks!! |

I've had anxiety attacks for ages. I have given up trying to analyze and understand them. They happen. Medication helps a lot these days so the panic doesn't last so long. But, it's all still a mystery to me. My psychologist said I'm most likely hard-wired this way.

I am actually recovering from a 'breakdown', so this is not a normal state for me. I'm just curious, and rather interested in te physiological side of things.

I have almost constant anxiety. I know what's triggering them but it's not something I can do anything about, so I can't stop the anxiety. I can't seem to come to a place of acceptance about the hard things ahead of me. (Medical and dental procedures, loss and death).

Me too. I worry about getting old, and medical and dental procedures. That is truly a phobia for me, as I've had some bad experiences.
