Sometimes I get anxiety while driving, like almost to the point of a full blown panic attack and I don't know why it happens. It just does. It's so annoying and scary and I feel like that's probably the worst possible time to have it.
Does anyone else get this? Does anyone have any tips to reduce it? My doctor is reluctant to prescribe any anxiety meds for it because some are addictive. And my counselor wants me to work on trying to find the source of the anxiety but I don't know what to tell her. Like I said, it just happens. It's difficult because I have kids to take here and there and errands to run everyday and I'm so frustrated with the anxiety, I just wish it would go away. I didn't have it during the summer while I was completely manic and it was so nice to drive for a while there without that anxiety. I thought it was gone forever but it seems like my anxiety just comes and goes as it pleases. |

i used to have horrible anxiety when driving to the point of hallucinating. i dont like taking antianxieties because of the addiction factor either but not being able to identify the source of the anxiety or being able to control it i have no choice but to medicate. i take buspar, which is a non addictive antianxiety med. it works great for me. it is not a benzo. it really works to take the edge off my anxiety and allows me to drive without becoming overwhelmed.
