I have minimal anxiety at present. Daily stresses yes, but no panic attacks. My anxiety has been under control for some time. It also hasn't reappeared after giving up drinking, much to my relief.
Which is why I'm confused by my sudden "fear" of shadows. If I see a shadow I'm fine, but what is happening is that (for example), I'll be washing the dishes when all of a sudden I'll sense this shadow behind or over me. I freeze, then drop to the ground but of course, there is nothing there. I am jumping clean out of my skin at these "shadows" all the time when there is nothing. It's just a crazy "sense" that something is behind me, or around me, or around the corner. It's making me jittery and jumpy. And I just find it strange!

Sorry you are having anxiety attacks. That is something that we all can suffer from. The more I focus on them, the more real they seem. To me a simple way not to focus on them is to
Breathe naturally Silently count 1 on the inhale 2 on the exhale 3 on the inhale... Continuing in this way up to 10. Then start at 1 again.
