Hey, I read that Paris Hilton suffers from panic attacks and that she was temporarily released from jail b/c she was suffering panic attacks and going through medication withdrawal (Xanax). Incidentally, it is also reported that she has ADD. If you do a google search, you'll see lots of articles about the above.
Normally, the topic of Paris Hilton bores me but finding out about this makes me feel rather sympathetic for her (not that I condone her previous actions or believe that she deserves special treatment). What I do hate is hearing people criticize Paris by saying that she was "faking" her condition just so she could get out of jail. I've experienced such dismay recently b/c I realize that people who have never had panic attacks have no idea how disabling and scary they are and figure that people who say they have them are being "drama queens" or hypochondriacs. How to raise awareness and let people know that this is a legitimate, horrible condition? Ugh, ignorant people suck. |

Yes, I think sometimes forget that celebrities are real people too, and they have the same problems we do. Sure it is possible that she was faking, but I would rather give her the benefit of the doubt and believe her because when someone doesn't believe our conditions (personally I have experienced people saying it's all fake to me) it can be a horrible thing. I feel bad for her.
On a similar note, Joe Francis, who is the owner of Girls Gone Wild, was also recently arrested, and somehow his psychiatric report came out (how would that happen?? what about confidentiality!) and he was diagnosed with possible bipolar or ADD, and he's been on meds for psychiatric things his whole life, so even if what he does is sick (the GGW thing) he is also a real person with real problems, and I am also sympathetic of that. |

true true...i completely agree with both of you....however realize if YOU had these illnesses and were sent to jail...they wouldnt pull you out....theyd probably send a therapist or something to talk with you ...but we all have to remember as much as celebrities are normal people...they get away with tons...because they are celebrities...this isnt here first offense...they gave her an order that they would anyone else ...and because she is Paris Hilton she gets to get out...while other inmates are suffering with things just as badly as she as...and you dont see them getting out do you? Just my input in things.....

Oh yeah I agree with that too inny. She definintely gets special treatment anyway because she is famous. They have psych wards on prison grounds (though she was only in jail, which is different) for that very reason. I don't think she should have been let out early at all. I think she was even in a room alone, so she had privacy and should have just seen a doctor there, but I guess that's what celebrities get.

I'll be the odd one out and give my honest opinion: the woman sickens me, and I honestly think she's giving those of us who have to work our butts off evey day AND live with panic/anxiety/ADD/any other issues a bad name. Since she is using those as an excuse, along with her fame, as a "Get Out of Jail Free" card, so to speak, it'll no doubt negatively affect the way the public views "the rest of us".
Then again, that might just be my incredible negative bias talking. ![]() ~muse

I guess I'm more concerned about how she grew up...what a messed up life style...living the life she has can suck just as bad as our modest lifestyles...just look at all of the celebrities...I never want to be famous or rich on top of my childhood and mental illnesses...

i wouldn't mind being rich
![]() however, i do think what you're saying is valid in the vein that her parents failed in their responsibility to ground her daughter and provide the support she needed to keep it together under the spotlight. i also understand that the way kids turn out is not 100% the fault of the parents...i mean, nikki hilton seems to be doing well away from the spotlight, compared to her sister. however, if paris indeed has panic disorder and ADD, i think it's fair to say that she had a harder row to how than some others (i know, poor little rich girl).

Quote: Direction said: I guess I'm more concerned about how she grew up...what a messed up life style...living the life she has can suck just as bad as our modest lifestyles...just look at all of the celebrities...I never want to be famous or rich on top of my childhood and mental illnesses...

|
