I do just as I'm falling asleep.
Usually it's a terribly big jolt through my whole body and it wakes me up.
The more anxious I am the more I twitch.

Me too! It's like an electrical current.
Sometimes I kick with one leg. But I've always done it even before I started taking meds.

I read somewhere it's like your brain hitting the off switch to your body. I get it almost every night and it's more noticeable if I'm having trouble getting to sleep.

Yes it's perfectly normal. As you are getting sleepier or falling asleep, your brain waves are switching modes and in doing so it ejects spontaneous action potentials causing muscle twitches.

Yes, I twitch, sometimes a mighty jolt - unrelated to anxiety or anything else as far as i can tell. Here is what the beeb has to say: BBC - Future - Why your body jerks before you fall asleep

Happens to me all the time.
Usually accompanied with strange thoughts that frighten me.
I haven't slept in 3 days because of this
