I get scared and anxious very very easily. Whenever I see see scary things (scary as in horror movie type things) things start to distort a bit, I feel very very paranoid. This usually last for weeks or months on end, especially at night, and I can't sleep much or be in the dark at all (at one point it was so bad I needed to go to sleep with the light on for at least 6-7 months straight). Whenever I see stuff I know it's just my eyes tricking me and something is being distorted and I know nothing is actually there but I can't really stop seeing it. A lot of the time when this happens I freak out over very small noises, I feel out of my body, I can't really think a lot. I don't really know if this is normal generally or something related to anxiety and I feel like I'm exaggerating or making up problems. Does anyone else get like this? Currently I'm not in a position where I can see a doctor. I've been diagnosed with depression and generalized anxiety disorder, also. Sorry if this seems vague and/or scrambled, I'm not feeling too well right now.

No, ive never had this happen to me. But it sound like youre not hallucinating. Youre getting extremely anxious and your mind is playing tricks on you. It doesn't sound like schizophrenia or anything like that. But the fact that it lasts so long is of major concern. Im no doctor, but if you don't have an addiction history you may benefit from benzodiazapines. You need to see a doctor asap...even if you have to pay out of pocket.
