on a few occasions i've had what i can only explain as panic attack, although the strong sense of fear wasnt as prominent as physical symptoms... i lost my vision, everything went white.. wasn't able to speak, or even walk/move or stand

the last time it happened my brother carried me downstairs and my mom retrieved a klonopin for me to take and after 5 minutes or so it went away.. slowly was able to speak and vision came back and everything...

the odd thing is that i can still hear when this happens, i can hear everything everyone is saying, i just cant respond .. last time it happened i was able to quell the panic of the people around me a little by stating simple statemnts "i just cant see" not all at once of course.. but over the whole "episode" which generally lasts 5-10 minutes it seems from the few times its happened to me.. i think i would of been a great deal more fearful if i wasn't around someone that could help me through whatever it was..

has this happened to any of you? or do you know anything about this?

for a short time i was thinking maybe it was a type of seizure...

maybe its because i tend to have trouble with breathing during high stress... oxygen toxicity... maybe its due to me not taking care of myself properly and being vitamin deficient.. i was diagnosed with hypokalemia once and hypoglycemia once...

i have tried to think of a trigger over the years, trying to figure out what it may have been so i could understand it better and be prepared better if it happens again... but i cant pin any triggers on it, maybe because i was trying to self medicate to relax it caused my brain to overload and not beable to cope with the extreme stress that i was under..? maybe it was just severe panic attack? oxygen toxicity? the somatization or conversion disorder?

im going to try to talk about it with a doctor when i get back in with a new one, my last psychiatrist wouldnt listen to anything i had to say..

Hello elevatedsoul: I don't really know anything about what you are experiencing. Over the years I have struggled with anxiety & I have had some odd experiences as a result. Severe anxiety certainly can cause all sorts of unusual problems. On the other hand, I would imagine this could also be a medical issue. So I think it would be good to review what has been going on with you with a medical doctor. It may even make sense to see a neurologist. I'm not surprised your pdoc wanted nothing to do with it. My experience has been that pdoc's only prescribe & monitor psych med's. Mine really isn't interested in anything else...

I had experienced something similar I would start to shake and scream and cry when ever their was an argument with my family and I would lose the ability to move and I got diagnosed with conversion disorder. But you should get checked out What are you doing at the time when it happens or what's going on around you?
