I've been at the hospital for about a week for my aunt. I haven't been at school but I got my school work and I'm doing it here. I haven't had any panic attacks doing it because I can take my time and ask questions ect. I've begged to be homeschooled and what do you guys think... I'm doing good so far. Any approaches?

I take it that you asked your parents to be home schooled and they said no. However, tell them that your panic attacks have stopped while doing your school work at the hospital. Maybe they'll change their minds.

I wish you the best. Keep us updated.

Yes, I've begged my mother since 3rd grade (im in 8th now). She says "I'll regret it" but I wont! I can't stand being around people let alone people I don't like. And My depression is a main target to most of them there anyway. But yeah I'll tell her and i sure will! Thanks

I think another approach is to talk to your school counsellor. They ought to be a great mediator between yourself and your parents. They will be able to provide resources.

Perhaps your parents are concerned about the level of time and their own commitment in homeschooling (where the parent provides direction, creates lesson plans, and facilitates the teaching).

Another option - which considering your age is very viable - is to complete your studies by CORRESPONDENCE. Many school boards havae a distance eduacation program. If not, your state education ministry should. Correspondence allows you to be more in control of your own education when it comes to the pace of learning. But, by you being responsible for your own education - and essentially facilitating it yourself - the commitment of your parents is significantly reduced.

I think what really matters is how comfortable you feel in a school setting and if you are doing better in a home school setting. If your grades are improving because you are in a more comfortable setting than I think you should talk to your parents and the school about that. Everyone has a different style of learning and if you are doing better this way than you should definitely explore it! Best of luck with your studies!!!

Hi my daughter begged to be home schooled and only after being bullied at school and the school saying they could not keep her safe did we give in.

But what is to go on a 504 plan. Every school in the USA has them. It will allow you to make a school plan that works best for. I think you will regret it my daughter did. For most of her senior year she was in a special program that allowed her to finish up her high school year and go to college but towards the end we had to pull her and put her back on the 504 plan.

A 504 plan protects you and your rights. Straight home schooling does not do that

Good luck
