I don't see another area of the forum for tics, so I was hoping some of you here could help me.
I've always struggled with tics. I was on haloperidol until recently when I weaned myself off it. I'm having some serious anxiety issues right now due to some circumstantial stuff, and the tics have become unbearable over the past two days. One of them involves needing to squeeze my eyes shut and that is no bueno while driving. Has anyone had experience with tics and being able to address them? I have to wait until Monday to get the prescription again, but was hoping someone could have any suggestions until then.. Also, if anyone else struggles with this, have you had any success with medication or anything else to lessen their effect? Thanks. |

Well ultimately this could be turetts but lets not jump to that conclusion. I myself am slowly and deliberately blinking when I am outside. One of my cheeks flinches too and I am constantly biting and chewing on my bottom lip. I have begun chewing gum in public to alleviate these near constant compulsions. As for my hands, I am constantly rubbing between my thumb and forefinger despite nothing being there - people have commented on this. And so, when I am in public I always make sure I am holding something - usually a coffee cup or water bottle.

Well I for sure have a tic disorder, if not turrettes. I was on haldol for a while but weaned myself off that (with my psychiatrist's blessing). They have been getting really bad over the past week - I had a hard time with work and everything because it's been so severe. I posted this post yesterday (Sat) bc I was hoping someone would have any ideas to help me with a temporary fix (I know, long shot) until they open again on Monday.
That's a good solution about holding something, but my tics are facial. ![]() |
