I have to buy a used car soon. My parents have lent me the money. But I can't seem to get motivated to actually get out to see any cars advertised. I just keep stressing and worrying about whether I will be getting a good car, and when I will have to go to wherever the car is, and how the whole transaction will go...I am paying cash and want to just trade in my current piece of crap car and transfer plates.
It should be easy. And yet it's been 2 months and I haven't gone to see any cars. My current car has the danger of the back wheels falling off because the axle and related parts are so rusted out. Yet I can't seem to make any steps towards change. How do I make myself break out of this twisted thinking? I really need to get this done but I am just totally overwhelmed. |

Would it be helpful to have someone go with you? SOmetimes it's easier with another person.

I recommend seeing if you can find a professional car buyer. I used one, they charged $250 for the service. They look over the cars, narrow them down to several to choose from, and negotiate a good price.

Well I finally sucked it up and bought the car. Took me 2 weeks (and 2 days off of work) to get it registered and inspected. Apparently I can't handle working AND doing adult things.
In any case, I now have a safe, legal (though basic and boring) form of transportation. Now to get over my fear of driving long distances!! |
