Everywhere I turn I expect something to be there, watching me. I keep think I see some kind of red slanted glowing eyes staring at me. Sometimes I expect to see a silhouette in a dark corner, waiting to attack me. Other times I think there is something under the bed or cabinets or desks waiting to grab me and pull me down. I jump at every noise and feel like someone is watching me. I am starting to have trouble going down to my basement. The entrance hall lights were wired wrong so you have to go all the way down to turn on the lights. What makes it worse is there are 13 steps(for anyone not suspicious, 13 is a unlucky/ghost/death number in Spain). I keep feeling like sometimes there is somebody down there who is out to get me, I end up sprinting up the stairs. Even afterwards I get this horrible feeling that something has followed me up and is breathing down my back.
Sometimes I swear I see things that aren't really there, even in the daylight now as well. Everyone tells me I'm doing this to myself but I swear I'm not. I stopped watching horror movies or reading anything that might have something scary in it. To my surprise that makes the anxiety worse. The less horror I watch the worse the feelings get, even though that makes sense. What makes it worse is that I don't know how to tell somebody this without them thinking I'm begging for attention. Does anyon have this or have any suggestions? |

I've experienced many of the things you mentioned and similar things for most of my life. When I was a child my parents said I had an overactive imagination and that I was dong it to myself. As I grew up and realized that all those things and more still happened I knew there was more to it.
What you describe sounds a lot like psychosis, and there are a lot of different reasons a person may experience it. Here is a good video by Kati Morton on Psychosis. |
