I was placed on Citalopram until I completed a course in CBT and learned skills to deal with it.(The hypochondria was part of a larger problem with catastrophic thinking - which there are great worksheets on the internet)

I wish I could help you with this. I have health anxiety but it's because I am sick and anyone feeling like I do constantly would be anxious about it.
As I understand it, with Hypocondria, you are convinced you have a specific illness and despite all evidence against it, cannot shake it. I'm not a doctor but it sounds, by definition to be a delusion. Antipsychotics would be prescribed if this is the case. But I'm not a doctor and think if you are considering medications, they would be the best people to ask. (((Hugs))) |
