Does anyone else get extreme lack of appetite when anxiety is high? All i managed to eat yeaterday was a bite of an orange in the morning and my sisters fries before bed and now i still dont feel hungry at all i tried to force down some vegetables and felt like throwing up as soon as it touched my mouth(even though i dont mind vegetables lol)
How do you deal with this if you get it i feel like not eating is making the anxiety symptoms worse but its just exhausting

Ugh, yes. When I'm over-the-top anxious I cannot eat much of anything. I find a banana and rice cakes helpful...at least I have something in my stomach. I feel bad for you.

Oh yes. I relate. My normal wt. is about 110# but when really anxious over time I have dropped to the low 90's, that usually gets me focused on eating again. I find grazing helpful, raisins, nuts, hot cereals, yogurt, some fruits, cheese and crackers sometimes...
I seem to actually 'forget' to eat. When reminded, I do not feel hungry.

When my anxiety is high, I have no appetite. I don't eat all day and have very little for dinner.

Because I also have bipolar disorder, I force myself to eat through it and time it according to my med schedule. My coworkers scheduled my lunch around my meds because they've learned I'm useless if I don't eat, and unable to if I don't time it just right. Example: at work, I take my largest xanax dose at 4:30pm, then eat my first actual meal of the day at 5pm or very close to 5. They all know I can't do the 7:30 lunch, because by then my meds will have worn off part of the way and I won't be able to eat what I need. I might still snack, but it'll be crap, and it'll make me sick.

I lose my appetite too. I've had some success with cyproheptadine when my pdoc put me on it.

Hmmm, would you say you are also restless and/or have an elevated mood?

I am having a hard time eating lately. I usually am constantly hungry and eat out of boredom. But right now I am having to consciously make an effort to eat 3 square meals.

Hi. I do understand, I'm the same way. For me it takes me breaking down and releasing some of the pent up feelings. I've gone days with literally nothing and once I release some of the energy produced by anxiety, I eat. I know it sounds terrible but maybe try thinking about what's making you anxious and then letting it out a little. Anxiety can make people physically sick. So not eating because you feel like you'll be sick is normal. Forcing yourself sometimes works but if you get really bad you'll just get sick. Try expressing what you feel and why you have anxiety. You can do it here or talk to someone. I hope it helps.
