I have the best intentions but I make appointments with my doctors or for something social and when push comes to shove I just can't leave the house. I have scheduled and rescheduled so many appointments you just wouldn't believe it. Does anybody else have this problem? Has anybody else resolved this problem? Would you tell me how you did it? It really makes my depression and anxiety worse every time I fail. Thank you.

My 'memory' for things really comes down to an excuse for reluctance and procrastination. Setting up multiple reminders though seems to give me the kick in the you know what to get up and go. I have reminders in my phone - day of, day before, week before. I have written reminders on my fridge. I have post-it notes of reminders on the inside of my front door. Sometimes, if I know it is going to be particularly hard I ask my dad to phone me the morning of an appointment. In this manner I just can't escape going. I know I have no excuse for not doing so.
Thanks for this!

I recently posted a similar thread in the bipolar section. I made a breakthrough with my body image being a big core issue and probably feeding my anxiety to go out. When I was gonna talk to my t about it I froze up and cancelled the appointment. Now I have done this several times with her as I am sometimes anxious to talk about what is bothering me.

Now besides medical field, I have postponed going to my Kung fu class for months just because I'm overwhelmed in body image.

I don't know. I usually make it to doc's appts, but do terrible at social activities and yoga. I'm lucky to have any friends left.

I just found this post after I replied to you. This is exactly how I felt and feel in my situation. I couldn't leave the house, and then cried the rest of the day because I feel that sense of failure too. I wish I knew what this was about, but at least you're not alone in feeling this way.

Of the appointments that I do make, my mother or daughter go with me. It definitely helps.
