Hello, I am new here.. and I just wanted to get my profile started, and I want to write 5 posts in order to get that finished as quick as possible. Seeing as I tend to procrastinate, lose train of thought, have severe adhd and troubles planning, prioritizing or whatever. I just wanted to share that I am currently struggling with some pretty heavy social anxiety.. which is not new. I am still learning to come to terms with it and accept it and work on it and am seeing a CBT psychologist sepcialist for social anxiety and support groups and intensive outpatient therapy and support groups and all of that good stuff. I am not in school right now and do not have a job and my full time job is pretty much just taking time for myself to rest and recover and learn how to deal with all ofmy psychological issues. I also see an addictions psychiatrist and he has me on pretty good medications.. none of which are addictive or cause terrible side effects..but I am living in my parents basement right now and don't have many friends that I actually hang out with. Because my friends are all similar to me and have their own issues going on. They are amazing friends though and I still consider them close even if we dont see eachother often. I dont know how else I can really work on my social anxiety if I am going to support groups and counsellors but do not really know how to expose myself to my fears and stuff. okay I am exhausted right now. That is all for now! Any advice? Hopefully this post sort of makes sense.

Hi laleahh34
For those who feel alone, or simply wanting to reach out for a chat without judgement......this is the place. There are many good listeners here, we're a pretty good bunch. I also suffer from severe social anxiety, and have found that when I must leave my house...Putting on headphones with my favourite music, or wearing hats & glasses to obscure my identity helps somewhat. Not ideal...but it's something. I have been an active member of this site for 3 years. In that time I have received some really constructive feedback and connected with several others with similar challenges to myself. I have also found hanging out in the Games Forums to be a welcome distraction in times of stress... a great way to clear my head, meet like minded others, and have some well needed fun. New members also benefit greatly from perusing the many forums available here...lots to explore. Also after 5 approved posts members have the option to join the chatrooms..or chat one on one with other members. Should you have any questions on navigating this site, please don't hesitate to private message me or any of the other Community Liaisons who will be more than happy to help. Just click on the screen name above my avatar. Please be kind to yourself laleahh34k, and welcome to P.C

I just wanted to say I can relate. I have severe social phobia and panic disorder and it greatly limits my life. I'm still struggling with it and have been in therapy for years in the past, and I'm in my mid 40's. But others have managed to make great progress. I just have a really stubborn case of it, I guess. Wish you the best of luck and welcome. I'm new, too.
