I find that reading and watching news triggers me. I get panic attacks when I read news about war, violence, threats, etc.

But I have this need to watch the news multiple times to see how safe the world is before I go outside.

I am so sensitive. I don't have twitter anymore, after I found that people posts photo's of war and crime. Which really hurt me when I look at them. I want to cry when I see these photo's.

But now that I don't have twitter, I feel like I am missing out... but I also don't want to be confronted with scary photo's of wars.

How about you?

Yes. Bona fide social injustice (NOT people acting like jerks and then claiming life's not fair when other people are legitimately annoyed!!), crimes of cruelty, and profound disrespect for others that is accepted as "normal" makes me feel like the world needs a big, cleansing asteroid to come along so we can just start over! I don't think I am a "snowflake" or "oversensitive" for feeling this way, I think it makes me human. I am glad to have the reactions I do.
Thanks for this!

Almost all news bother me. Also political or judgemental or ignorant FB friends. I have no friends anymore but I kept FB just in case I need it for something, and also I dont have a phone.
Recently I started following news again and I cope with it by imagining that they are illusions or messages from parallel reality.

I have been contemplating turning off images in my browser... it makes surfing a little less exciting, but I can't handle graphic pictures anymore. Even Google image search can turn up these type of images. News websites are increasingly showing more graphic and violent images.

Yes. My therapist recommended I don't read the paper any more, so I don't. I also deactivated my Facebook account over a month ago.

With what's going on in the news, I think just about everybody is triggered. Like Onward2wards posted, we're human.

this might me triggering to some people.

A few months ago, a mentally challenged teenager was kidnapped a few miles from my house, and taken to the city where he was badly tortured by 4 people. The story scared me so badly the only thing I could watch for a number of weeks was prime time Nickelodeon. I still usually just have Nickelodeon on TV. I can't watch most of what people my age watch. I can handle, HGTV, reality TV, game shows, and kid shows. I watched a scary movie on Saturday, and I was really uncomfortable the whole time.

I don't watch TV news or even watch what's posted on the Internet, although I might read a bit of the articles. Honestly, I can't do anything about all the bad stuff, and that's mostly what the news is about. So, yes,it can trigger me. I get all worked up about things!

I can get really worked up about the news, especially things I see in my facebook feed. I want to know what's going on in the world, though. I listen to a lot of podcasts from NPR because I think that they seem to focus on politics and important world events without reporting a lot of the sensationalist disturbing things like murders, etc. that I see on other networks. Sometimes the situation with politics can still be stressful.

I like that I can control when and where I listen to podcasts. I can turn it off if it gets to be too much. Sometimes I just hide out for days and listen to audiobooks and don't hear the news at all.

Same here. Reading terrorists attack makes me afraid my house would be bombed. But then, I immediately switched reading other heartwarming or funny news. Not all news are bad. If you hate reading war or criminal news, just switch to other news, like technology, food, etc.

I don't watch the news anymore because most of it is lies anyways. I also don't watch regular TV because why pay overpriced fees for TV when I can stream everything that I watch WITHOUT the annoying commercials for cheaper?

Back when I did watch TV? The news was sometimes triggering for me.

It makes me feel overwhelmed. I try to avoid anything political these days. The news thrives off negativity and there is more than enough of that in every day lives. I don't need to bury myself in it.

I do find news triggering at times. I don't really read or watch the news, but it's all over my Facebook. So every now and then, I have to stay off of it.

I was taping up to 12 hours of politics and watching them. My pdoc said why is that necessary. I said I need to know when we're all going to die (jokingly). He said limit it to 15 minutes per day and it hasn't triggered anxiety or irritation since. I still have an international news feed on my smart phone that I follow day to day but it doesn't trigger me.

I read a long time ago that those of us with anxiety should avoid the news as much as possible. I agree, at least for me. It makes the world appear very scary and dangerous, and only confirms my belief that I shouldn't go outside into that world, heck naw, I'll stay in here.
