I haven't been here in a while.

24 year old here, with OCD. My PS4 (game console) had an unexpected software error. After lots of digging, I came upon the info that many other people have this particular error and there is no solution to it from Sony (it's just random and you either have it on your console or not).

I don't have money for a new console and have to deal with the problem until my current console breaks up. I am highly attached to it and have spent so many hours on it for the last 2 years.

The fact that this error might brick it down (it is very fundamental error) and that there is no solution really ticks with my OCD. I usually try to find solution to any problem in order to settle my OCD down. But this PS4 thing.. it drives me crazy not only that Sony don't have any solutions to this problem, but also by the possibility of losing my console!

Any recommendations what to do? How do you let go of material possessions without thinking too much of them?

Thank you and appreciated...
Hugs from:

Since it's messing with you this badly you could work on it in therapy if you're in therapy or save any money you can to get a new one and break free. I know you're having a tough time with this and it will be hard. It's a fundamental problem that can't be fixed. Try to put it behind you when you can, get the new console and have years of enjoyment on the new one. You may think about it a lot at first but it will eventually get to the point where you've put the old one behind you. Do you take any medication for your OCD?

My mother has the same problem with material possessions, even broken ones. She has a couple of friends that come in when she's on vacation or out and streamline her room and get rid of broken or outdated things. It's the only way it will get done. This last vacation we just got back from they had thrown away a broken fountain out front. I've been trying for years to get her to part with that.

Good luck and best wishes.
