I bought a supplement from the store and I drank a serving and I realized there was no plastic safety seal or anything. I called the store and they said the other bottles did in fact have them. I didn't have any bad symptoms or anything but I just can't stop worry that someone might have tampered with it and put some type of poison in. I've been trying to think of any other reasons that the seal would be removed on just my bottle. Do you think I'm worrying over nothing or is there a real concern here?

To be honest, that would make me a bit nervous too and this definitely is a legitimate concern. To be honest, if I were in a situation where I drank something that had no safety seal where one should be there.... I would probably make myself throw up. Luckily, incidents of this nature are quite rare. So, I would imagine that the chances of it having been something other than a malfunction or someone who drank out of it before are quite low. Despite the fact that this concern is relatively unlikely, I also would be quite worried.

I'm sure that mechanical errors can happen that cause a product to not have a safety seal. Also, it isn't uncommon for employees to drink something off of the shelves when no one is looking. Perhaps they removed the safety seal to cover the tracks of their theft somewhat. I used to work in a supermarket, and some employees would drink a few sips of something and leave it on the shelves, sometimes taking steps to cover their tracks. Some would even go as far as stealing beer and then drinking it on the job, and one guy I worked with actually told me that he'd do this.

Still, I'll say that if you do feel sick following this incident, definitely get checked out and say that you drank something that didn't have a seal on it. You never know, but overall I would imagine that your concern is very low on the list of possibilities. Especially if this occurred quite some time ago and you haven't felt sick or noticed any symptoms of being drugged.

Of course, there is also the concern of it having gone bad due to not having a safety seal due to a malfunction.

I agree with Monkey. If you start feeling sick or strange then get it checked out. I know you're anxious about it but try to distract yourself from that way of thinking. There is nothing you can do to change it and odds are it was ok.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the reply! It has been some time now and I haven't shown any bad symptoms still. Since this would worry you as well... I wanted to ask if the lack of symptoms would be enough to put your mind at ease? I want to forget this and move on but my mind is still stuck in an anxiety loop where the "what ifs" keep crossing my mind. Like "what if it was just a small amount"? or what if it is a poison that will affect me later"? Anyway, how would you feel at this point/what would you do?
Thanks in advance

If you're not feeling symptoms by now you should be good to go. Be positive about your health. It's a lesson learned now, so just be careful in the future.

I agree, if nothing has shown up by now you are probably good to go. I hope you can eventually put your mind to rest on this. I know how that kind of anxiety feels though. I was at a dinner at a business convention one time and a stranger beside me sneezed into my right eye. I don't know if it was deliberate or not but I freaked out and was uneasy about it for weeks. This was years ago but I remember how anxious I was. Best wishes.
