I am watching this video by psychiatrist, James Greenblatt. He talks about routine tests he does in his practice that no psychiatrist I have seen does. He talks about recent cases and how many people were virtually cured by simple supplements, B12 injections, etc. It is amazing how easily a severe psychiatric condition can go so long without relief when there could be a simple explanation for the cause. How many people have seen countless doctors and psychiatrists with no relief?

I cannot post a link because I haven't posted enough yet. Please search google videos for "case studies in integrative medicine," watch the video, and let me know what you think. Perhaps we should be demanding our doctors carry out tests like these!
Thanks for this!

Thanks for sharing. I'm interested in researching this. I've thought for a long time that the integrative approach is the way to go and not just popping more pills.

I have been researching some for a few days now, and it seems promising. I want to get myself tested for various deficiencies, toxicities, and possibly my gut microbiome. Doctors in my area don't really do this sort of thing, so I'm trying to figure it out.

ty for posting this.

maybe my gp is weird, or maybe things are diff in the US, but the first thing she done while i was waiting on a pdoc(waiting list) was send me to city hosp for blood tests to check for deficiencies/imbalances etc. good idea and should be standard i think, amazing what you find out.

I have had blood tests also. I don't know exactly what they look for, but I assumed back then that everything was normal or I think my doctor would have told me. Doctors who are "integrative" or go by other terms like "nutritional psychiatry" seem to be more specific in their testing and perhaps pay attention to things that most doctors don't. This is a problem for me, because it gets hard to tell what is "quackery" and what is real. I have had debilitating panic and anxiety for over 5 years now though so I'm willing to look into alternatives, Typical antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds and anti-psychotics have not solved my problems. I'm now jobless living at my parents and I want my life back. Currently, I'm trying to get in touch with a certain doctor who does things over the telephone. We'll see how things go.

Just an update: I have an appointment with a functional doctor on August 7. Waiting for these two weeks is absolute torture. Can't wait to get there.
