Ok, so I've had some problems for a long time but
I recently started seeing a therapist again (it's been years) and she told me that I have ptsd coupled with GAD and panic disorder. And she pointed out some stuff that I viewed as normal everyday life as things that were actually really bad. I knew about the panic attacks and stuff but I didn't start noticing my triggers until she told me a couple that she noticed... and now that Im aware of some.. it's like I'm noticing them everywhere. The feeling that I was having before that I thought was "just me being crazy" is actually intense anxiety and it's been going on for years.. I mean, I literally hid in my closet today. It's gotten so out of hand... so My therapist doesn't prescribe medication, but she offered to refer me to someone who will... and at first I declined for a lot of reasons.. first and foremost, I'm breastfeeding (I have 3 kids) and I know formula is fine, but I love breastfeeding. It's calming. So I was wondering if any of you have medications that you take only when anxiety/panic gets really bad? That way I can supplement with formula for that day (or pump beforehand) Thanks in advance for any help |

Thank you! Yeah I'm afraid they will try to push something that's every day. And from what I've heard it's hard to get medication because they are addictive? So I feel kind of stuck. But I will talk with my therapist tmro abut everything. Thank you so much! I hope they can work with me, I'm being kind of difficult lol |

I take xanax. They will probably start you on an ssri and if the doctor will prescribe it a benzo.

Propranolol may be safe for breastfeeding. Musicians and actors use it as it doesn't affect their abilities to perform.

it is my preference to be seen by a psychiatrist - who not only can diagnose mental health disorders but as a medical doctor can make the appropriate prescriptions. Personally I would trust a psychiatrist to do so far more than a GP. While it is wise to educate yourself on the various classes of psychiatric medications I would not recommend the shopping around for them. |
