hi everyone
my anxiety and depression got really bad in May, in July i ended up being hospitalized for the first time in my life. i switched anti-depressants and have been taking sleeping pills and anti-anxiety meds since May, in the past i rarely used anxiety pills never had to use sleeping pills. but the stress was catching up. hubby working late me, me working early.....never seeing each other from mon to fri i was like a single parent working fulltime and looking after the kids.

long story short now i am on stress leave, i am doing somewhat better, but i wanted to ask if anyone has had ongoing burning sensations in their neck and tension in shoulders. i went for massage but it didn't really work. when i get really tense and stressed i feel tenison in my hips and buttocks?

i sometimes feel like a failure for having anxiety, but this is something i have battled all my life. in the past i was able to bounce back quickly. but now its ongoing. i have one teen and one pre-teen and they can push my buttons pretty bad. whereas it doesn't affect the hubby.

i was told i need coping skills. i do try to relaxation techniques at least once a a day. But i feel like what more could i be doing. now that i am at home i feel like there is more work than when i was at work.

anyways i am just ranting.... i just wish i didn't take life so seriously and worry about things that are not in my control. my friend said you need to re train your mind to think more positively, she said you can do YOGA all you want but it won't help if you don't learn how to undo this negative pattern of thinking i have had pretty much all my life.

thanks for listening if you got this far.

I'm sorry you're having such problems with anxiety. It sounds like you already have meds. Do you have a therapist who could teach you some DBT or CBT skills? Sending big hugs.
Thanks for this!

hi jen
i will be starting an intensive CBT group therapy soon, and yes i am seeing a therapist too, we have worked on it abit but mainly we talk about issues at home right now.

funny thing is i am not overly anxious right now but i still feel these symptoms. i guess i have to try to focus on something else, because they say the more you fixate on something the worse it feels right?

i just wish i could be back to the way i was, yes i had anxiety but not to the point where i had these physical symptoms this bad.

thanks for replying..... i hope you are feeling better, i know you wrote to on here you were going a through a bad patch.

Hi there, I get very bad pains all over my body when I am anxious. Maybe you are also adjusting to medication changes? Warm baths, yoga, meditation and massage can all help. Feel better!

Hey. I feel the same way. My shoulders are terrible. You know when you get a massage it's supposed to feel like a nice kind of pain? Mine just feels like they're in agony!

I really related to the part about not taking life so seriously and getting out of negative thinking patterns. I really need to do this too. I'm thinking of taking baby steps as I often expect myself to get better straight away. I'm also gonna make sure I take time out to look after myself even if it's little things like putting make up on or going for a small walk. I think sometimes when we have a lot on our plates we forget to look after ourselves and that keeps a lot of the problems going or makes them worse.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck and hope you feel better soon xxx
