Shame runs through my life.
You know how when people talk about the stigma surrounding mental health issues they say, "You wouldn't feel guilty about having a broken leg." I would.
Anxiety makes me feel dirty, perhaps because of the sweating and increased heartbeat.
I don't feel like I deserve to get better.

aww i hear you...yes you deserve to get better...AND YOU WILL..... you have to tell anxiety that is it a liar and will not rob you of the life you deserve. it's an illness just like cancer or diabetes, it's not your fault.

remember that
Thanks for this!

I totally get the feeling of shame. I also deal with that feeling. Mine is mostly connected with fact that everyone around me is so competent.
You really, really, really need not feel shame with your illness. Please just drop that feeling out of the mix. Fighting anxiety and depression is hard enough without the added burden of shame. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF.
Use that energy to fight the depression and anxiety.

I also feel ashamed, too often. It needs to be fought. Shame is so awful. It keeps a person from asking for the help to get better. Everyone deserves to get better. And you are someone. That is all that is required.

We all deserve to feel better. To feel at ease, with nothing dropping us down or stressing us up.
I use Stabillium 200 (natural fish remedy) to deal with the stress, along with Camomile tea at times.
Change of habits could also help.

I very much relate to feeling shame over ANY illness or what I perceive as weakness. My father was always a pusher of showing no weakness. I'm sorry you battle this....it's strange how we can see our issues, know we are wrong for feeling how we do but still feel that way anyways. (((Hugs)))

There is nothing to be ashamed about, Anxiety is just a feeling, yes there is more definition to that but at the core, its just a feeling and its managable with the right tools, comping mechanism etc. and remember you are not alone theres plenty of us that suffer from anxiety, some are open to talking about, some hide it, fact remains is there is nothing wrong with it, dont let anxiety control you, control anxiet!
