Any one here ever have anxiety attacks while sleeping? Its weird how it happened . I was sleep like usual, maybe partially awake. Subconsciously I thought someone else was walking in my house. I woke up immediately frozen still couldn't move, its like I was paralyzed. I could move eventually within in seconds but I tried to keep still because I really thought there was an intruder. Of course the thoughts were rolling in my head what if someone was really in the house? what if they hurt my grandma or aunt? what if I was having some physical ailment like a stroke? No one else was in the house and I've calmed down but I'm still a little freaked out about this... Anyone else ever experienced having anxiety attacks during your sleep and if so how'd you cope?

This sounds kind-of like sleep paralysis? I haven't had any episodes of it now for quite a few years. But when I was young I did. And for years I didn't understand what was happening. It was terrifying! I gradually learned to focus my attention on the index finger of my right hand. And once I could move that, the paralysis dissipated. I've read that sleep paralysis is more likely to occur if one is sleeping on one's back.

One of the sleep paralysis dreams I had was... I was at one of my aunt's homes. Their house was on a busy street & had a long driveway. In my dream I was laying down cross-wise of the driveway & I would roll out into the street. There would be cars coming but I couldn't get out of the way. It seems funny now. But at the time, I recall being "scared stiff" (pun intended...)

I know, from reading other members' posts on this subject, that other people who've had sleep paralysis have had different experiences... some, as I recall, not dissimilar to yours. Anyway... hopefully, in your case, this is just a "one-off" & you won't continue to have these experiences. I wish you well...

Thanks for the reply Skeezyks, I knew there was a name for what I experienced and I completely agree it was terrifying at the time. Its def much more funnier after its happened and I can laugh at it after I've gotten through it.
