Since 2012, I’ve gotten bad anxiety after drinking apple juice. I️ mentioned it to my therapist, who denied that it made me anxious.

I️ has not had apple juice in awhile, but yesterday I️ bought a bottle of 100 percent apple juice.

I️ drank about 40 Oz Of I️t tonight. I’m literally shaking from my anxiety. I️ realized half an hour ago, that I️t was once again the apple juice.

I️ googled I️t, and apple juice is bad for people with anxiety, because most apple juice tests positive for arensic. Which can cause anxious behaviors.

So I️t wasn’t just in my head.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Its also high is sugar. Maybe its that too. That is 110+ grams, bound to make your blood sugar rise and drop quickly. Can cause anxiety like feelings.

Apple juice can trigger anxious feelings because of the high sugar content, which can increase adrenaline and blood sugar. This can lead to the feeling of having a panic attack. Some apple juice can contain arsenic but I doubt it contains enough to evoke such anxious feelings, otherwise there would be many more complaints and the brand would not stay on the shelves.

Anxiety is a powerful thing. If our brain expects to become anxious from something, whether it be apple juice or going outside of the house, then it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. The best way to overcome that is to expose ourselves to that which makes us anxious, if it can be done safely. You could also avoid apple juice, but I would consider that an avoidance behaviour.

I️ don’t think it’s “in my head.” That’s a really wrong thing to say to anyone with any type of anxiety issue.

Last night I️ couldn’t figure out why my anxiety was so high. Until I️ realized what had happened.

I️t was on a credible website.

No need to jump down my throat like you seem to do on a lot of my posts.

I suffer from anxiety as well, quite badly in fact. I have for most of my life. I am sorry if you took my post as insulting, but anxiety technically is in our heads, in our brains. It is very powerful and the amygdala can cause us to have anxiety-related symptoms that trigger panic when in reality, there is no emergency. It is the brain's classic fight, flight or freeze response. So yes, it is in our heads and yes, it is extremely powerful. It gets me sometimes, that's for sure!

I agree with Scared, we can easily make our anxiety worse. We over think our over thinking. The high sugar is a legitimate reason you feel like you are having anxiety. It is literally almost 3x the recommended amount for a hwp person. It can cause nausea, dizziness, headaches, hot flashes, shaking and tremors.
