My psychologist has always said my hallucinations and delusions were because I was schizoaffective. Meanwhile, my psychiatrist told me not to long ago, that the hallucinations are a part of my OCD.
Is this normal? Does anyone else have this? |

Uh. That is a label or characterization, not an explanation. Do your hallucinations or delusions make any sense to you?

Honestly, they once made sense in some weird way. I figured they were just part of a different disorder, the schizoaffective disorder, that my psychologist gave me as a diagnosis. Then, my psychiatrist comes into the picture and says I'm bipolar, and that the psychotic stuff is part of OCD.
I suppose in a way, it makes some sense. They have to do mostly with blood and fear of people coming into my house. My OCD has been about locks and cleanliness, so in a way, I think it could fit. However, I have just never heard of psychosis being a part of OCD. It's just thrown me for a loop. I'm not entirely sure what's going on. |

Psychosis is not a part of OCD.
Are you sure that what you are experiencing are hallucinations and delusions? If what you are experiencing is part of your OCD, most likely you will know that these things are irrational. That's the thing about any anxiety disorder-- no matter how scary or real the thoughts are, one can ultimately differentiate rational from irrational. Schizoaffective disorder includes the mood swings similar to bipolar disorder. Do you have depressive and manic episodes? I'm sorry you have to deal with all this confusion and these labels. |

If your thoughts make some sense to you, then they probably make a lot of sense! I hope you can find somebody who will pay attention to them and help you figure out what that is.

I do know that symptoms of psych disorders can overlap into other disorders, but this does not mean you have a new or different diagnosis. I have been diagnosed with major depression with psychotic features, and I have generalized anxiety as well. I have experienced delusions but not to the level of making it its own diagnosis. I don't have any experience with OCD.
