2 words that make me really anxious for some reason.
I seem to associate them with abuse. please, especially- like.. please just ****ing do it, or else the reason why I'm posting this is because I want to know how I can look normal when people say those words to me. everytime someone says please or thank you I tend to cringe, and then shiver, and people look at me waaaaa?. but those are good, positive words. I don't want that reaction but it's hard because of the association I have |

I hate "please" too. My mother never used it except very coercively. It was never like, set the table please. More like, please change the course of your life so i can win this argument.

That's how I feel with "I love you". Yea ok, sure you do. You don't hurt people you love.
My guess is maybe with time you might just react less but feel the same. Or with therapy maybe you will feel less negativity associated with them.

I love you tends to make me gag, and for the reasons you mentioned like, yes, of course you do and I've also had people say I love you, and then do stuff behind my back that goes against that fact |

Its something people say to get you to do what they want or to patch up after something bad happened. In my opinion, not many say I love you and actually mean it. Its a tool manipulators use.
