I wasn't sure where to exactly put it but I have this one weird, kind of, automatism. I know many people, especially with SA, replay conversations in their heads but I actually do something more and it's involuntary. When I think of the conversations I also make facial expressions and gestures to a particular situation, it's like a tic that I must control because it may seem weird to others. It's like I'm going too deep into these ruminations. I don't even know how to explain it properly.

Yes, I've experienced this exact thing, and you describe it very well. It was in the late 1980s, when I was IP for two months for agonizing withdrawal from benzos (Xanax). I haven't thought about this for a VERY long time. I was profoundly fragile at the time, on a lot of meds to prevent seizures and treat mania. I was surprised and embarrassed to realize that I was making facial expressions and gestures, mouthing words silently and grimacing, smiling, frowning. Yes, people looked at me strangely, but of course they were in treatment too, so they had their own problems to deal with. This behavior diminished over time (maybe 6 months), and I've never had it since.

Well it's not that serious. The fact is that when we replay something in our minds our muscles are making micromovements as if it was real it's just not that obvious. I dunno, maybe it has sth to do with executive functions.
