it's got worse since I last posted about this.

now it's at a stage where when ever I hear a police car, I believe it's coming for me,.

I've had enough of it.... I've not done anything to be arested by the police, so why would I think this

I am sorry this is a problem. While I am unconcerned about the police it is the ambulances that frighten me. When I lived in the same city as my family members I cringed with panic that it was one of them the ambulances were racing to.

CBT and DBT discuss faulty thinking styles of which one is "Catastrophic Thinking". There are ways to manage this. In particular, a "Decatasrophic Worksheet" has proven helpful to me in such situations. It has really been a good tool to have in my coping toolbox.

I am sorry you had the issue with the ambulance.

I have something like that.. ever since I knew about seizures and fainting, I keep thinking that when I'm talking to someone normally, they are just going to stop responding and I'm going to have to call the ambulance for them.

it's a weird fear.. even if I know the person is totally healthy, it's an issue.

Sometimes when I get in a bad place with lots of anxiety and self loathing I get afraid of police. Like you I logically know that I haven’t done anything wrong, but that doesn’t stop the fear. Is there any kind of self care, positive affirmations, or self comforting things that you can do to feel safe and get past this?

I feel the same way. But in my case I had the police call because of other family member.

Recite positive quotes for whatever you need they have one for everything. I go to depression quotes for example.

I have this same fear, but not quite as bad. When ever I am driving, and see one, or one gets behind, or in front of me, I get panicky. I know I am not doing anything to be stopped for, but I can't help that feeling, and I have the same feeling with anyone with any type of authority. Before reading your post I thought it was normal, but I now realize that it all has to do with the way I grew up, and my fear followed me through my adulthood. (((((((HUGS)))))))

I can get very dissociative around the police. They were involved in very traumatic situations when I was very, very young. Although they had 'come to the rescue," their entrance into the situation was often violent in nature (because they had to be very aggressive in order to help).

I had, at a very, very young age, associated their presence with violent situations and my adrenaline can surge and/or I can start having flashbacks when the police are around.

I should feel comforted, I suppose. Yet, it did not get wired in that way. They were a part of the chaos and the violence which was very scary to a young child.

I am very disturbed by sirens, too. Very alarming to me. Adrenaline stats pumping.

Wishing everyone inner peace.
