Hi Guys, I'm wondering whether you can provide some insight into my problem at moment...

I'm in a downtime in my life and I have always suffered with anxious delusions. I've found myself very isolated in the past couple of weeks and not spoken much to anyone.

I've lost confidence in myself at moment and feel like the personality I built up and had 2 weeks ago has gone because I haven't been using it since then. Do I have access to all the memories and thoughts I had back then or have I lost some?

Any insight would be very appreciated as I am very depressed about this at the moment, thanks.

Hello laazrook: I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find PC to be of benefit.

I'm not a mental health professional. So I can't offer you anything definitive with regard to what you're experiencing. But, from what you wrote, it sounds to me as though you've sunk into depression. So I would presume your thoughts & memories are all still there. You're just having a difficult time accessing them, which is something depression does to a person in my experience. Perhaps being here on PC can be of some help with that. You may also want to consider seeking some mental health therapy if you're not already involved with it.

Here are links to 2 articles by our host Dr. John Grohol, Psy.D, from PsychCentral's archives, on the subject of depression:

Good luck...

I am thinking too this might be some depression. I have difficulty myself with losing confidence and getting depressed. As hard as it may sound, try to get yourself outside even for just a few minutes. Isolation tends to make us feel worse.

I have a sense of this too right now. two weeks ago I was pretty pumped with confidence and even applied and interviewed several times for a job. Now I have not heard back and I am feeling a total lack of confidence as a result. My boyfriend has observed this and thanks to him, he has gotten me outside and doing some things. He had to drag me to a parade last night but I ended up enjoying it. I feel vastly better today and I am sure you will too if you can manage to get up and out where you are likely not to ruminate for a while.
