I have a dentist appointment this afternoon and I'm so nervous! It's the preparation of a crown today.

I woke up already feeling anxious this morning. I almost feel like there's anxiety in my subconscious, which leads to physical symptoms, and then I become aware of it and I get more and more nervous :/

I've prepared as best as I could. I've taken the afternoon off work. I'll take some anti-nausea medication before I go. I think I'm more nervous for how I'll feel afterwards than the treatment itself. Last time I had to get something done to a tooth I felt so nauseous afterwards and it took ages for the numbness to wear off.
I'm glad I now go to a dentist office closer to home and can walk home afterwards.

4,5 hours to go and I'm having a hard time focusing on work. I know I should try, it's a good distraction.... But the physical symptoms from the anxiety are really bothering me

How many crowns do you have? I've had so many that it doesn't bother me so much anymore. The expense it the worst horror. I waited a long time before getting a new dentist after ditching my last one. His work was not good. I waited so long that I had so much decay in one tooth that it needed root canal. That's an extra $1000. So that ONE tooth was $2700!!!!!

How did it go?

I also have great anxiety of the dentist. I tend to visit the toilet half dozen of times before I go.

I hope that it went okay

This'll be my first one and hopefully my only one! At least for a while.... I guess I've been lucky, I've only ever had one filling before.

Thanks! It did go ok no side effects from the local anaesthesia. I think she may have slightly underdosed. There was a part of my tooth very much NOT numb. But the pain was manageable. Before the end of the appointment it had already worn off.

There were several visits to the toilet for me this morning, as well. It was mostly the hours before that were bad though, once I was on my way there I was looking forward to it being over.

Next week I'll get the crown placed and then I hopefully won't have to see the dentist again for another six months!

I get nervous before a dental appt, too.
I get nervous about the procedure AND the costs!

I am glad it's going well for you!

I’m glad it went well for you.

I was supposed to have an appointment 2 weeks ago but it got rescheduled and I’m a nervous wreck because I have bad teeth and I just want to know what I’m dealing with. I see her on the 24th. I know I’ll feel better once I actually know what’s going on. I’m taking Tylenol as if it’s anxiety medication because I get pain when I think about my teeth and the Tylenol relieves the pain and then makes the anxiety go away. It’s just fake pain though from worrying about my teeth. I’m not actually having any real pain. I’m just a nervous wreck about my teeth right now. I just wish that original appointment hadn’t been cancelled so I wouldn’t have this extra 4 weeks of anxiety.

And if I do need work and if she can’t fit me in before Thanksgiving I’m not going to get it done until the end of January. I want to be able to enjoy the holidays instead of being a nervous wreck about needing a bunch of dental work done on the 29th of December or something. That happened in 2015.
