Is it normal to feel guilty after watching a much-loved fur-member of the family (Ebony) leave this life?

One thing that my brain keeps replaying is her last day and I feel guilty cause it should of been me that went, never poor darling sweetpea Ebony

Why couldn't I of got took instead of Ebony? She never deserved that

I don';t know if I got the right icon thing for this thread either, the angry face one and the trigger one look the same to me today

those scumbags who hurt her so bad deserve to suffer what my sweetpea suffered

I'm not sure that kind of guilt is typical. I feel guilty if I think I could have done something good to help my fur baby live longer, though.
