So I have a severe fear of roller coasters. It started when I was 9 and I went to an amusement park for the first time. Went on a ride I wasn't ready to go on and traumatized myself.

We go to the amusement park annually as a family tradition so I use that as a way to slowly overcome it. Every time I try to expand my limits a tiny bit. I'm actually going tomorrow which is why I have this on my mind.

I'm currently 16 and have made a lot of progress. I still can't go on the far majority of most amusement park's rides but now I can at least enjoy ones that I never even considered going on as a little kid and I'm satisfied with that for now.

I'm mainly proud of myself cause I decided to tackle this issue on my own ever since I was a little kid and while slowly have actually been accomplishing it. I'm wondering does anyone else share this fear? Or have any big fears you're trying to beat?

I can see you are determined and have a lot of courage.

Since I have been more isolated for several years now, I have more social anxiety. I am working on it.

Keep up the great work!

what about amusement park rides scare you

is it the actual movement of the ride, or is it what might happen on the ride (such as a breakdown)

Wow, I have a similar fear that I was unable to overcome for many many years. Congrats on taking steps towards overcoming your fears. Growing up, amusement parks and rides were a favorite. In fact, I wanted to try them all, the faster the better. Now, I realize that my subconscious has told me there is danger here. I shouldn't be greedy or push my luck. Long story short, I now steer clear of amusement parks altogether and found new interests to replace that kind of fun. To be honest, I think I would rather spend a week's pay on games than ride one more topsy tervy ride. Sorry my story is not as successful. Thank you for the post. It has been a while since I thought about this topic

I don't like roller coasters either. I don't like the feeling of your heart going into your throat. At amusement parks, I mostly just do the rides for the little kids. I can handle Disney rides, because most of them are not that scary.
