I have this fear of riding in a car any kind of transportation. I am so worried that we may get stuck in traffic now dont laugh but I also fear of going to the bathroom. I do wear womans underwear but still whenever I have to go inside a car I become so nervous that my stomach is full of butterflies. It feels like there is 100 or more butterflies in there. I am sure everyone gets butterflies. Here is something that I do whenever I am in a car I tend to talk like crazy the poor people in the car can't get a word in. It keeps my mind off of my stomach. One time I did get stuck in traffic on the way home from my doctors, this is a big fear for me .It doesn' t help much that I do have agoraphobia and nobody understand this.my family and my friends do not understand my agoraphobia and fear of cars. It is really hard for them to understand why I am afraid to go out anywhere. I am just scared.

Would it help to ride in a larger airier vehicle. Would you qualify for paratransit? The size of the interior of such a bus and mode of transportation might be easier for you.

I'm so sorry, xmascarol Is it possible for you to use public transportation? Would that be better for you? Agoraphobia must be really hard to deal with. Have you talked to your doctor about this? Maybe that could help. Sending many hugs to you

I am referring to a handi bus. It would solve your mobility issue too. Generally they allow you to bring along a support person. The down side is that you cannot travel spontaneously as you must book an appointment to be picked up in advance. I think this is worth looking into.
