My pdoc just prescribed Emsam for my GAD, Complex PTSD, MDD, etc. I am terrified of all medications bc I get the worst reactions from them all. I keep reading how Emsam is activating and I am a constant, racing thoughts, terror-filled, restless, severely anxious wreck already and I am scared that Emsam will be too stimulating and that is the last thing that I need!

I can definitely identify with you from personal experience! I hope the Emsam helps and that its side effect profile is mild and tolerable. Sadly I have no experience with this medication.

Based on what I've heard about Emsam, it's a good medicine and it has good efficacy for the kinds of things you describe. It's in an older class of medications that doctors don't use as much anymore because there are newer medications I guess. But I was almost prescribed Emsam. I would have gone on it, but my combination of Effexor XR and Remeron finally started working for me before I had to go on Emsam. I wish you the best with the Emsam.

I was too worried about Emsam so started Paxil on November 4th. I still feel no better. I feel hopeless, terrified, and extremely sad. I am so paralyzed by my fears that I cannot function. 18 years of this torture and now I am 48. I feel like I am doomed this way forever. 😭

What about a community worker to help you with day to day activities like getting groceries or going to the pharmacy, the doctor, things like that? Could make the world of difference my friend, knowing someone is there to help. Someone who really cares.🙏🙏🙏
