My husband works nights... Most nights I can't sleep.

The reason?

I don't know. I can't seem to close my eyes. I'm afraid someone is going to break into my house. I remember scenes from horror movies I've seen.

I can be so tired my eyes hurt, but I cannot get to sleep until my husband comes home...

I'm so tired of it.

if you're not in therapy i'd recommend it. from your other post and this one i'd suggest you have false beliefs of things that scare you. atherapist can help you get to the bottom of these false ideations.

For starters stop watching horror movies!

Even movies that aren't technically "horror" ("Panic Room" comes to mind, although I haven't seen it.)

Also if you are familiar with the concept of mindfulness maybe experiment with letting the scenes from these movies run through your head, but don't react to them. Over time they may lose their power over you, and eventually be a thing of the past.

Also take some concrete steps in terms of securing your house, *if* during regular daylight hours you think it's something that makes sense (IOW *don't* buy an alarm system online at 1AM because you think it's absolutely necessary at that very moment).

Good luck.
