just moved to another state and now that the adrenaline has stopped running through my body i'm feeling anxious or perhaps depressed. i know that just moving to a new place is sometimes scary but this feeling is nagging at me today. i'm glad to be here, so that's not it. i need to go to the mall but i'm anxious about leaving the house. i do have agoraphobia so that might me it. but it's not usual for me to feel the level of depression or anxiousness i am feeling right now.
just needed to get that out...maybe it will lessen the intensity by sharing with you all. i am over tired too. maybe some hugs would help. feeling a little overwhelmed but the huge task is done..moving.
thanks for any suggestions too of how i can get a grip on this thing. i don't have a T or pdoc here yet or i'd schedule an appt. sorry for rambling..just "out of sorts."

... you may be feeling anxious because it's all over (sort of delayed if you like, now you're not as busy to notice). Or possibly anxious about forgetting to have done something?
Whatever the reason, I hope you are feeling better soon
anxiety or depression?
Sending you lots of hugs .....and this little fella ^^^ Isn't he cute
Take care,
Molly

Moving home comes on the great list of stressful life events and it's not all that surprising to feel apprehensive about going out in a new area. Allow some time to recover from the move and go easy on yourself. When you do decide to venture out, slow down the breathing and concentrate on the job in hand and make sure you buy yourself a treat!

Ahhhhh yeah. I know the feeling. That's gonna be a hard one to figure out untill you've been settled in for awhile (unless you already have been and I've just misread) I, and i cannot stress this enough, *hate* going anywhere at all by myself (maybe because i have dependent personality disorder-but thats a different story ). I've missed dr's apts, class-you name it. I have slight agoraphobia, so I can see how that may be it. My very uneducated guess would be that it's just anxiety from that and not necessarily depression. But I hope you can get out there and do it! I know it's gonna be hard, and I know moving to new places stinks. Find a good friend- only takes one for now- that will just help you and just be your errand buddy for awhile- it helps tons, and does wonders

let me know how you're doing in a couple of days!
ami.

My vote goes for all of the above - my body/mind does the exact same thing! It gets me through the tough times, with adrenaline etc., and then just needs a little time to recover. Don't worry, take it an hour at a time if that's what it takes, the feelings will pass and you will feel better! Sooner than you expect!

Hi Madisgram, I know when I moved 14 years ago and changed so many things in my life it sent my anxiety through the roof (anxiety loves familiarity). It was also the wrench that I needed to really work on my anxiety and be done with it.

Have you thought about doing a "dry run"? (to the mall)

Just go without any plans on actually purchasing anything (unless you *really* need it); just go to familiarize yourself with the place, learn the layout, find the best place to park for the stores you want to visit, etc. The focus is just on experiencing it, and allowing yourself to get a little desensitized to the new place (which might be in part what is difficult about leaving the house-it's always harder to leave some place or something if you don't know what will take its place).

An additional benefit is that there's no way you can fail (unless you turn around before you get there); that can boost your (self-) confidence (which can in turn help you in the future).

Anyway just a thought. Good luck with whatever you decide.
