It all started with the bat which triggered my most recent panick attack which later turned into full-blown anxiety and now I'm on like day 5 and even with the Celexa and the ocassional benzos, I'm still feeling very nervous and wired up most of the time. I'm feeling this way even though I put the incident out of my mind several days ago and even though I've cut way back on caffiene. So why do I still have foggy head/fuzzy head/spacy/panicky/neck pains/jittery/swallowing probs, etc?. How long do these things last?. I am so tired of all this )-;

OH BOY DO I UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!!!!! When I go through my periods of anxiety, they last for weeks. For me anyway. I wind myself up. I have been going through this for years and still to this day I have a hard time with anxiety and mind control over it. I dont want to scare you and tell you that it will last for weeks, I'm just telling you my story. I recently made a post reply to someone who was having questions on what steps to take to deal with their anxiety. I will give you the same advice, as I have applied these techniques to my personal experiences. I do my breathing excersizes. Visualizations. I also write in a journal. This helps me pinpoint my triggers. I'm am sorry if I wasnt much help to you. I hope that your anxiety is very short lived. I know how difficult and hard it can be on your body to go through all of this. Take care |

Yes, they can last years. You will learn to cope. Don`t be discouraged. I did not find the Xanax helped.

Hi greygoose,
jmo said "I do my breathing excersizes. Visualizations. I also write in a journal. This helps me pinpoint my triggers. " This is good advice. When we are really stretched it feels like nothing will work, cause were too edgy to get into it. But my experience has been that the strategies do kick in after a while, and we get better at doing them. I try to treat it like a job of work, and when the anxiety gets worse, I go to work on my strategies. There was a time when I couldn't get on a bus, and these days I can fly on a jet. Oddly, the anxiety is much the same, but I just seem better at working through it. I hope it gets easier Greygoose, I'm rooting for you. Cheers, Myzen. PS - I don't know if I've mentioned this before but my best breathing thing is to count 4in, hold for 4, breath out for 4, hold for 4. It feels like it's not going to work and then after a while I can stay with it. Then my legs get heavier and my arms and I feel much easier. It probably took me a year to get this exercise sorted and I have used it for at least 15 yrs with success. It has worked for me anyway. |
