I have social anxiety and so dealing with people is problematic. Is there a polite way to say none of your business to someone? I dont want to upset them but not everything is other peoples business. The person im specifically talking about is doing me a favor right now so I cant afford to upset them but some of the questions they ask... Its too much. So does anyone have a way to say it without saying it? Like some questions I can play dumb and just answer "I dont know" but that doesnt always work.

In situations like this I usually just say that I don't want to talk about it, in a polite tone and then I leave it be. ![]() ![]() ![]()

You could try telling him/her that you really don't feel comfortable talking about it right now. They ought to accept that. Hopefully, it will be all you need to get you through to the other side. If not, and they keep pestering you to find out why you're so upset, talk with your counselor about the pros/cons of each possibility.

Maybe a polite: 'Its not of anyone buisness and that means friends as well' should be IMO! all that is needed!
Just say' I feel unable to answer that, at this moment' and leave it at that. In saying that, you should remind your friend/s that you too have an opinion regarding the current topic, then go on too something else.... then if they repeatly Q: you then just say 'Please I respect your comments but please repect my, wishes if I did not wish to continue on this topic with you or with other others etc. I alot can be said by not saying ANYTHING AT ALL................. |
