Hi all!
It's a long story, but I'll say that though I took my driving license as soon as I was allowed to, I have always been terrified of driving. For several years I could just drive for very short times and on well known roads with someone sitting near me, then I totally stopped. At the end I even had anxiety when I tried to just sit on the driving seat. Well, at a certain point, for various reasons I began wanting to can drive, though I was still terified. I went back to driving school, because after years without driving I really needed it. Then I began driving again with my parents, and then alone...on the first time I drove for a very very short time and on a very easy road out of town, and I had anxiety however. It was around a year ago. I still anxiety for many other times, actually. But then it became a bit less and I began feeling safe driving for longer times and also in town. I took many little steps.
Well, now I can drive alone every day to the place where I'm having a sort of working experience (out of my town) and sometimes I went also to other places in the area, even without practicing before, just knowing some points in the area. I'm not terrified at the idea not to can handle some unexpected situations; I can do it Last year I would have never ever imagined to can do so. When I read about people who overcame driving anxiety, I used to think "I could never do it"...instead...
Maybe at the moment I would have a very very long drive, like for going on Holiday...maybe in future I'll can, maybe it's a bit too much, I don't know yet...but compared to last year, this is a very big success
So, what I mean is: overcoming driving anxiety is possible You can do it too.
You can feel free to message me also privately if you want to talk about driving anxiety, I'm happy to help if I can. My suggestion is, little steps.
Hugs to all! Sorry if there are any English mistakes
