Well its gonna be hard to make this short but im gonna try........ Acording to my mother I was WAYYYYYYY ADD when I was young but in the late 70's earlie 80's there wasn't much for ADD/ADHD so I kept a healthy diet and stayed verry active. When I was 25 I kinda lost it, well really lost it........ The state was taking 90 percent of what I made at work for 1 of my 3 kids and I had to support myself, dissabled wife and other 2 kids on the last 10 percent (apx. $4000 a year........ ( this problem has been fixed thank god ). But for 5 years prior to being "commited" age 20: I had to change jobs up to 10 times a year to make it by; and for another 5 years after until the state of AZ finaly heard my plea to help/stop........... Anyways I got treatment for "bi-polar dissorder" for 3 years after I was commited for a short time, with many medication coctails that did nothing but make me more crazy. So for the past 2+ years I have been medication free, which has worked out much better than when I was on medication. My symptoms, well in my oppinion were mis-diagnosed. Now with that said I have started working on my own business which means stress ect. and of course with the added stress the symptoms have come back......... (not half as bad as they were) but still its hard to concentrate, focus on one thing, racing thoughts, insomnia and many others. So I decided to "self-medicate" I've been taking adderol xd at 15-20mg for about a month just durring the weekdays and WOW what a difference borderline life changing............ I can multi-task, no racing thoughts, reduced stress due to being able to function normaly, able to spend more quality time with the kids without everything being "annoying" ect.. Now my problem now is getting a "valid prescription" I am running out of one I was able to obtain. I have no insurance, but was seeking treatment through the state who provided my medication befor (Value Options, now Magellan); but im afraid they wont prescribe it for me because of my previous diagnosis, leaving the program 3 years ago and it's gonna be a huge hastle to get "back in the system". ANY ADVISE? Sorry so long but I actualy left out alot to make it easier reading. Thanks......

Hi Trips

About the onll thing I can tell you is to follow the channels to getting a new diagnosis. Take a good history of your symptoms and read about the criteria . you have your mon to help validate if need be durring a intake. for your childhood history.

Thats a postive note that your responding to a trial prescription .
sounds hopeful .

Hi Tripps
you probably did not pick up on my feelings of dispare last night.

its highly likely if you go back to the system you were in . They will see your leaving as just not being willing to cooproatre with what you need to be doing.

pshychaitirst and phycollogists do not like to admidt they may be wrong.

it will come back on you and you may get no where.

SO . you may have to find another way to get a new diagnosis.
when you have no money or insurance like myself that makes it difficult.

also

haveing been given a diagnosis [ even though it may be a bit off track and not very helpful .

if mentioned the new doc will usually side with the old doc because doctors tend to favor other professionals over clients.

now I don't know how you got your prescriot. and i have heard of a few incidents where others have tried a friends prescript and had positive results and that got them in the door.

if you have a history of substanse abuse this can get tricky.

I read somewhere that ADHD used to be daignosised as bi polar.
I know very little about BI polar . except one can have periods of very high activity and periods of deep debiliating depression .

i aso read that those with ADHD can get to the point they have a collapse or just blow up .

it souds like this may have hapened to you
just keep doing research . and look at you through what you read .

and try again else where .
